Anna Dementyeva wins Russian Championships
Anna won her first Russian Championships title in the all around on Wednesday. She had a score of 58.05, and her highest score was on floor with a 15.100. But is this with Russian bonus or no? And Anna Pavlova came in second, which puts her on the National Team! Her highest score was with her DTY for a 14.900. Alyona Polyan came in third with her highest score on floor for a 14.700. The two Yulias came in fourth and fifth, Inshina in fourth and Belokobilskaya in fifth. Yulia Belokobilskaya had the highest score on beam for a 14.550. She will be competing in Cottbus next month and will be in contention to win the beam title their as well as the beam title here in Penza. Yekaterina Kurbatova and Anna Myzdrikova gave us disappointing routines with scores in the twelves, tens, and Myzdrikova had a score of 9.500 on bars! That had always been her weakest event, but a nine, really? What the heck! Viktoria Komova competed on bars, beam, and floor. She had a 6.8 start value on bars and scored a 16.000. This is without Russian bonus, and with she scored 16.700. But she had trouble on beam and floor with scores of 13.750 and a 12.900 on floor. But Tatiana Nabieva had a very successful day scoring a 14.850 on vault and 15.050 on bars. She has also added her Nabieva, or toe- on layout tkatchev, back into her routine. The two Ksenias didn't compete, Ramilya Musina, and Anastasia Grishina didn't compete. Aliya Mustafina took part in podium training, but didn't compete so that she can rest for the American Cup on March 5th. Below is a link to the International Gymnastics Magazine Online for a article and the full results. And I will post videos as soon as they come out.

Russian Championships and Cottbus Updates
The Russian Championships officially start on the twenty third with the qualifications and the all around. On the twenty fifth is the team final, and on the twenty seventh and twenty eighth are the event finals. Aliya Mustafina and Anastasia Grishina will not compete at the Championships, Aliya for unknown reason, and Anastasia is probably still out with a back injury. As you can see below, you can see the participant list for the Cottbus Challenger Cup. Apparently Yao Jinnan is not competing, but I am not sure why.

It is nice to see so many countries competing, the only big top level gymnastics countries that are missing are the USA, Italy, Brazil, and of course North Korea, but for obvious reasons.

WOGA Classic Videos
Here are some videos of the WOGA Classic. Katelyn's beam routine is absolutely HUGE!!!!!!! Madison Kocian does a stalder shaposhnikova with a half twist. Aliya Mustafina has competed this skill before, and it will be interesting to see if Aliya ever competes this at Worlds or the Olympics, because if she does, it will be named after her and not Madison. Some videos are low quality but here they are.

My favorite Skills
One of my absolute favorite skills is the double front. especially on floor and beam, but they're cool on bars also. I don't know why this is one of my favorite skills, it just do! I also love them in combination, like a front whip into the double front. Here are some beam and floor routines with great double fronts! And Yelena Produnova's famous double front vault!

Who is this Girl?
When I saw this girl for the first time on floor exercise, I didn't think that she was that Powerful. But then I saw her on beam. She had a scary fall on the second day of competition, but on possibly the highest arabian that I have ever seen. And then she dismounts with the best and highest ariabian double front dismount, I'm actually convinced that she could be the first person to even perform an arabian double front in the piked position! And then I saw her bars. She needs to clean up her feet and toes, but does an amazingly beautiful Ricna into a high and floating pak salto. But she only does a 1.5Y, and I think that she could do a DTY though. This girls' name is Kennedy Baker, and she goes to Texas Dreams, obviously in Texas! Here are some videos of her routines at the 2010 Jr. Nationals.

What I think of the new World Cup Series
So as most gymnastics fans know, the FIG made some changes to the World Cup Circuit. Their are two type A World Cups, for the all around and event finals, and then type B World Cups, Challenger Cups, that are welcome to every gymnast. For the type A all around World Cups, the top eight gymnasts from the prior World Championships will come together and compete with each other, to see what progress there competitors have been making. If an athlete drops out, then the next placing gymnast will take there place. Their will be four of these competitions, they will be in Jacksonville, Florida, Glasgow, Great Britain, Stuttgart, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan. Then their are the event finals type A World Cups. It is extremely similar to the other type A World Cup. Their will be the eight finalists from the prior World Championships on that event, plus the top four highest placing gymnasts from the previous years World Cups. Obviously a gymnast cannot replace one of the top eight finalists, but if one of the four World Cup gymnasts pulls out, then the next placing gymnast will replace them, and so on. Their are two of these World Cups. They are going to be in Paris, France, and Moscow, Russia. Then their are the regular World Cups, that are now called type B World Cups, or Challenger Cups.
Here is the calender for the 2011 World Cup Series
March-
Type A American Cup Jacksonville, Florida: March 5, 2011
Type B Challenger Cup Cottbus, Germany: March 11-13, 2011
Type A World Cup Paris, France: March 19-20, 2011
Type B Challenger Cup Doha, Qatar: March 30- April 1, 2011
April-
Type A Glasgow Grand Prix, Great Britain: April 16, 2011
May-
Type A Moscow World Cup, Russia: May 13-14, 2011
September-
Type B Challenger Cup Ghent, Belgium: unsure of date
Type B Challenger Cup Maribor, Slovenia: unsure of date
November-
Type A World Cup Stuttgart, Germany: November 12-13, 2011
Type A World Cup Tokyo, Japan: November 26-27, 2011
Type B Challenger Cup Osijek, Croatia: unsure of date
Type B Challenger Cup Ostrava, Czech Republic: unsure of date
I personally think that the FIG made a good decision about changing the World Cup Series. This gives the gymnasts and the fans a chance to see how the gymnasts are comparing with each other before the World Championships come October. But it still gives you the opportunity to see the still great athletes that we wouldn't normally see at a major competitions either because of where they are from, or they are over shadowed by the extremely popular gymnasts. This is why I like the new World Cup Series.

Tan Sixin and Yao Jinnan going to Cottbus World Cup
Two extremely talented new seniors are going to the Cottbus World Cup next month. They are Tan Sixin and Yao Jinnan. Most gymnastics followers recognize the name Tan Sixin. She went to the Young Olympic Games last year and won four medals, silver in the all around and uneven bars final, plus two more gold medals in the beam and floor final. She is also the 2009 Chinese National Games champion the balance beam. She was just a junior still and defeated The world champion from that year Deng Linlin, and the very talented Sui Lu, plus her other teammate Cui Jie. But Yao Jinnan blasted on to the gymnastics scene last year at the Chinese Nationals, with a huge DTY, and a very difficult beam routine. How will they handle there first ever international meet as a senior? I hope they do extremely well, because they are both fabulous gymnasts.

Welcome to my new Blog!
Hi! So I have been thinking about making my own blog for quite some time now. I always go on to everybody else's blog to look at new Gymnastics results, updates, or even there opinions. And I figured that since I'm so dedicated to this sport, I should make my own blog! I started to get serious about my gymnastics when I saw Nastia Liukin at the 2008 Pacific Rim Championships. I had of course seen the Olympics, but I had no idea their were other competitions. So I fell in love with the sport. And when I found out that you could look up gymnastics videos on YouTube, I was ecstatic! My first ever favorite gymnast was Anna Pavlova of Russia. And Russia, in my opinion, still have the best gymnasts. And then I found out about the Ukrainians and Belorussians and so on. Since then I have been in love with my Eastern European gymnastics. But I do love all gymnastics of course! I have a YouTube account, I am europegymfan123. I don't post videos, but I do go on everyday and favorite new and exciting routines. I will try to post as much as possible and I hope that you enjoy my blog!
